The Terra Mirim Foundation is an Educational Community. The people, who live here, have chosen the way of living, which is restless yet peaceful, creative yet essential.

Here one lives in the neighbourhood of pure water, healing herbs, fruits, flowers and animals. This living together is respectful and cooperative. Here one seeks to learn with a mango tree. A tree, which lives anchored to the ground by strong roots and at the same time, reaches up to infinity through its bright top. It has no doubt that it was born, knowing how to make mangos, like a bee is born, knowing how to make honey.

The Terra Mirim Foundation is an intentional and ecological community - the people here have come together, because they have chosen to experience the life in a community and because of their love and care for the Elements and the beings of the Mother Nature.

The Terra Mirim Foundation is also a social organization, which acts in causes related to the maintenance and promotion of life. There are important programs and projects, which have been developed at the valley of Itamboata River located at Simões Filho - Bahia, especially the ones that promote environmental and artistic education, as well as development of talents and citizen's consciousness. These activities allow local people to get in touch with their own history & culture, learn to value it and keep it alive; in this way they also amplify their possibilities of sustainability. They learn, how to take care of the river, which crosses the valley and the forest, which borders the river. Likewise, the projects promote reflections and knowledge about the topics such as community leadership, traditions of ancestors and solidary economy. Children, teenagers and women are our main collaborating partners.

The Terra Mirim Foundation is an autonomous, independent organization for the people and by the people. It is sustained by its residents, collaborators, services and products. Founded in 1992, the Foundation presents effective work with significant results.

It is an essential movement. All the experiences, the Terra Mirim Foundation offers and makes possible, have a single purpose - to promote an encounter of each being with itself, with its own essence ... with its beauty, strength and wisdom.

The Terra Mirim Foundation accomplishes its activities in the world with the refined sense of purpose, sense of cause. And its most ardent mission is to manifest the original dream, which motivated its emerging - an ample purpose, orientated to recreation, preservation and respect of life.
